Solinco Hyper-G 16L

What it is
Hyper-G is a pentagonal co-poly that rec stringers keep on the wall because it grips the ball and does not go completely dead on day four. This seed page is the 16L / 1.25 mm set, the diameter most 4.0s should try before they drop to a launch-day 17.
It is not a comfort multi. It is a poly with a usable window.
Who it’s for
Players who already generate their own pace and want the ball to dip instead of sail. If you are still pushing the serve and poking the backhand, a full bed of shaped poly will feel like hitting a board. Arm-sensitive players should hybrid it with a softer cross or pick a more elastic poly.
Standout details
- Shape holds longer than round polys that “go” after two humid nights.
- Control-leaning response: you can swing and still keep the ball in the court.
- 16L is the honest rec starting gauge. Thinner feels nicer in the store and notches sooner.
- Tension: start a few pounds below whatever a forum told you a college player uses.
Honest verdict
Hyper-G is a very good rec poly when the stringer is not trying to impress anyone. If your elbow talks, that is data — cut it out and hybrid, do not “play through it” because a review said it was control-oriented. Replace it when the snap-back dies, not when the coil finally breaks.
