What it is
Head’s Speed MP is the everyday midplus in the Speed line: 100 square inches, a quick swing weight, and a more open stringbed than the Pro. This is seed copy for the current-generation MP, the one you actually see on club demo walls.
Use it as the “I want to take the ball on the rise” pick, not as a serve-and-volley museum piece.
Who it’s for
3.5–4.5 players who already move well enough to step in, and who get late on a heavier, more head-light control frame. Doubles regulars who live on the return will like the easy put-away ball. Skip it if you want a plow-through board or you still spray when the beam gets lively.
Standout details
- Fast through contact, which helps on high bouncing hard-court balls.
- Enough pop that rec players do not have to muscle every backhand down the line.
- Cosmetics change every two years; the playable idea does not. Buy the current cosmetic on sale.
- String it with a control-leaning poly or a poly/multi hybrid. A launch-day full bed of shaped poly at high tension is how rec arms get hurt.
Honest verdict
The Speed MP is a very good league-night racket and a slightly less honest “this is what the tour uses” story. If you already like the EZONE 98, demo this as the quicker, flatter alternative — not as an upgrade you owe yourself.
