What it is
The Gel-Resolution is ASICS’ stability tennis shoe: a wide platform, a firmer heel, and an outsole that is supposed to survive two or three nights a week on abrasive hard courts. This seed page assumes the 9; a research pass should swap in the current number and last shape.
It is a tennis shoe, not a running shoe with herringbone printed on later.
Who it’s for
Rec players who slide a half-step on hard courts, who have rolled an ankle before, or who chew through softer “light” shoes in ten weeks. If you have a wide forefoot, start here before you force a race last. Clay-only players can look at a dedicated clay outsole instead of treating this as universal.

- Break-in is real. The first two sessions can feel brick-like; that is not a defect.
- Go a half-size with your thicker tennis sock if you live between sizes. Blisters are not a personality trait.
Honest verdict
Buy the Resolution when you want the shoe to disappear after week two and still have tread in August. If you want max cushion and you barely move laterally, a lighter court shoe will feel nicer and wear out faster. Do not play league in running shoes and then blame your knees on age.
