Verdict
New Balance's cushion-first stability shoe. The Fresh Foam X ride is among the plushest in tennis, it comes in D and 2E widths, and TW backs the outsole for six months. You pay for that in weight (about 15.8 oz), sticky traction until it breaks in, and mixed customer reports on how long the outsole lasts.
The softest serious 98 you can buy right now (61 RA plus ProKennex's moving-mass Kinetic chambers), with real spin and placement, but you supply the pace, so it's a demo for arm-sore control players, not a Clash substitute.
Yonex’s club spin flagship opposite Pure Aero—Ruby Red 100 that loads the ball with snapback, pockets more than it punishes, and belongs on the short demo list if Aero feels too boardy.
